Enjoy GBBO Selasi’s Signature Afternoon Tea at DUKES LONDON with Chef Nigel Mendham this Autumn

This year, DUKES LONDON is celebrating the culinary delights of the British Food Fortnight with a very special collaboration and the introduction of an exclusive afternoon tea menu available for a limited time only. ‘Great British Bake Off’ semi-finalist Selasi Gbormittah has partnered with our very own DUKES LONDON Executive Head Chef, Nigel Mendham, to bring a unique twist to the classic British staple we all know and love. Selasi’s Signature Afternoon Tea is available this Autumn.

The partnership between Selasi and Chef Nigel has resulted in a mouth-watering array of both savoury and sweet treats. Highlights from the selection of sandwiches include H Forman’s London cure smoked salmon with dill cream cheese served on beetroot bread and free-range egg mayonnaise with autumn truffle and watercress on white bread. Enjoy a broccoli, parmesan and avocado warm savoury tart before moving on to your decadent dessert selection, including a Blackberry Yuzu Financier with citrus syrup and soft whipped Crème Chantilly and a Choux Surprise with caramel, white chocolate mousse and pear. As always, this spectacular afternoon tea is served alongside scones and our amazing selection of fine loose-leaf teas and infusions.

Selasi first became known in the culinary world due to his time spent on the much-loved television series Great British Bake off. As a contestant on season 7, fans of the show took a shine to him due to his relaxed composure and showstopping elaborate bakes despite the pressures of the competition. Selasi has a passion for incorporating seasonal ingredients into his creations – the addition to the menu of his Fig and Almond Tart showcases this, with early Autumn fig confit, sweet pastry, spiced almond cream, toasted almonds and honey glaze. His addition of signature contemporary twists makes his delicacies stand out from the rest – wait until you try his Chocolate & Citrus Cluster, an unusual yet wonderful combination.

The British Food Fortnight is a national celebration of British food and drink, encouraging the sourcing and promotion of local products. Chef Nigel is a strong advocate of sourcing the finest ingredients from British suppliers, something which is always reflected in his culinary creations at GBR. Growing up in the Norfolk countryside, Chef Nigel saw first-hand the importance of local and sustainable food products, allowing him to create dishes packed with flavour, freshness and impact. Exceptional ingredients are key and it something he prides himself upon. Chef Nigel’s focus on great British food and Selasi’s passion for food bringing communities together make for the perfect combination.
